The Software History Futures and Technologies (SHFT) Group develops tools and methodologies to support the historical preservation of computational software (in all its myriad forms). This includes everything from videogames to research support software to business applications.
We are an interdisciplinary group that makes use of methods from computer-, information-, library-, and archival science, as well as humanist history and critical theory. The overriding goal is to make the history of software more accessible, explorable and interpretable for scholars, practitioners, and students.
